Have a Toshiba 56 in projection that after 20-30 min the Connivance is shifting to a point that you see 3 images (red, blue, white). After about a 45-60 min of the entire shift it stops and than you have to and realign the colors. Questions 1 Is this repairable? 2 If so what should I expect to spend? 3 Or should I just say good bye and get a new HDTV? Thanks

Under Blu Ray and HD DVD
Well that is certainly no fun! As for your first question, this issue should be repairable. However, the cost of this repair will most likely make it not worth while. Between the cost of parts and the hourly rate charged by tv repairmen you are looking at a couple hundred dollars. If it were my money i would take a look at a brand new HDTV. A couple sets I would look at in that size are the Mitsubishi WDY577 which is currently around $1500, Samsungs HL56A650 around $1900 and the Sony 52w3000 for around $2400. If you have any other questions feel free to ask away and let us know what you decide!

I own a 63" widescreen toshiba DLP projection t.v.. It has high definition of 720p. If I buy a blu-ray player, will the difference in quality between my standard DVD player (420p)and the blu-ray player (720p) be significant. I am told that the difference will not be significant, however given the size of the t.v. I wonder if it will be much better. Thanks (Answered February 15, 2008)

Vizio Plasma 50 inch P50 HDM--and all of a sudden no power. I have been told I have a power supply problem by vizio--this was so helpful. I did not know when I turned it on and nothing happened I had a power supply problem--but I digress. So I get routed to the repair people--get this. Without asking me what my problem is--they told me it will cost $615!! He never asked me what was wrong! This is the flat rate for whatever repair. So, here are my questions. One, should I repair a plasma that is less than two years old or buy a new one? Second, is there another option for me besides this repair scam? Is this a repair I can do? Thanks for listening. - I am trying to program my Direct TV remote control to my 24" Dynex TV. Dynex does not appear on the TV listings which I am given. I've tried using other TV Manufacturer's but it gives me a message stating that my TV is not programmed. What can I do to resolve this problem. Thanks. Mike

- Just bought and set up a 42in.JVC 1080p LCD TV. The salesman tried to sell me an HDMI cable for $80.00 claiming that this set required it to maximize picture quality. I didn't buy it and just went ahead and used the component cables from my previous Sony 720p projection TV setup. It looks good to me but I've since seen HDMI cables on eBay for $10.00 or less. Question: is there any justification in performance or quality to account for a $70.00 spread between what appear to be identical cables? Whatever the performance benefit, my main interest in HDMI is to eliminate some of the "cable clutter" at back of the set.
